New In Beauty: Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Blend Collection

Quite a lengthy title, but there's a lot to pack in!

I was recently pleasantly surprised to be woken up to a package being launched on my bed, and inside was these beaaautiful brushes! I knew I immediately had to get to work on these so I can fill you guys in on the details!

As you can see above, the set contains 3 brushes, (with the most stunning, on-trend rose gold handle), and one beauty sponge.
I've tried Makeup Revolution brushes before, some I've adored and have found themselves a place in my everyday make-up routine, and others have ended up collecting dust. Before I get into each individual brush, I'll just say that the quality of these brushes are comparable to other high-end brushes I've used, and I'm impressed with how much Makeup Revolution are improving as a brand.

This brush is called the 'Powder, Sculpt & Blend' brush. I tend not to take much notice on what a brush is 'supposed' to be used for, and I find a way that it works best for me!
I used this brush to blend both cream and powder contour, and also to smooth out any other harsh lines. You could definitely use this for foundation application as the bristles are incredibly soft, and the flat top makes is easy to buff product into the skin.
This is my favourite out the range, and one that gets whipped out on a daily basis.

This brush is called the 'Cheek & Highlight, Sculpt & Blend' brush. I only use this brush to 'sculpt', and in particular to apply cream contour. The brush is the most dense out of the range, and doesn't have 'too' much give, so it's perfect for precise application. This is a handy little tool for those who love to contour to perfection.

The last brush in the set is this little guy, and it's the 'Ultra Metals Eyeshadow Blender'.
This doubles up for me as a more precise brush for highlighting, and to blend out my eyeshadow for a seamless finish.
Another super soft brush, and a great one for your collection.

The final piece in the kit is the beauty sponge. Now I'm a huge fan of the original 'beauty blender', and I've never used a brush since, so giving a more budget-friendly alternative a go is something I'm always looking forward to.
My heart still belongs to my trusty beauty blender, but this does an amazing job of applying your base seamlessly. Of course, I wet mine before application, so bare that in mind. It expands quite a lot and covers the entire face quickly and efficiently. It's definitely worth giving a go, especially if you're new to the 'beauty sponge' world!

So there's my thoughts on the Ultra Sculpt & Blend Collection! Don't they just look beautiful?

I recommend picking this set up if you're after some new, pretty brushes that cover a whole lot of bases! For £14.99, you can't go wrong! You can purchase it here.

Have you tried any Makeup Revolution brushes? What do you think? Are you going to try these brushes out?

February Favourites 2015

My first monthly favourites! Yay! Since I've been trying so many new things recently, particularly in the month of February, I decided it was the perfect time to get involved with the whole monthly favourites gig.

I realise this post is very 'Makeup Revolution' heavy, but I purchased these products myself and I genuinely am obsessed!

Starting off very bright! This palette is called the 'Matte Brights' palette, and rightly so! The pigmentation is incredible, even more so when this only cost a mere £4! I picked this up to introduce myself into the scary world of bright and crazy eyeshadows, and I haven't looked back since. I then went on to picking up the Urban Decay Electric palette, yet I still find myself going back to this gem as the colours are insane. I highly recommend picking this up if you're in the market for some super pigmented, yet affordable bright eyeshadows! You can purchase it here.

These two favourites compile into one as together they're an absolute dream. I haven't worn foundation in about 6 years or so, but recently my skin had gotten so bad that I've had to shoot myself in the foot and plaster product over them so I don't feel so self conscious. As that's the case, I may aswell enjoy what I'm using! I spent a little while in Boots a few weeks back testing out different foundations, and finally settled on the Rimmel Lasting Finish. It does claim to last for 25 hours, and I definitely don't agree that it does, but it certainly does the job in keeping my skin looking blemish free throughout the day. I apply it with my Real Techniques buffing brush which gives me such a natural, even coverage. You can buy the foundation here, and the brush here.

Back to eyeshadows, and back to Makeup Revolution! This is such a gorgeous little palette. I picked this up on a whim because I loved the look of the colours, and for £2.50, I wasn't too fussed if it didn't perform! Well, these are the most gorgeous purples I've ever used. Normally, when using shimmery eyeshadows, I'm pretty disappointed when the shimmers disappear as soon as I apply it to the lid, but these stay put like nothing else! I'll 100% be picking up the other little palettes. You can buy it here.

Like most people, I love a good 'hyped up' product, and they're usually pretty hit or miss, but I still managed to get sucked in! I'm glad I did on this occasion as this has become my new favourite mascara. I love trying new products, but as far as mascaras go, I'm pretty stuck in my ways and don't often venture out from my beloved Loreal Telescopic, or Rimmel Lash Accelerator, but after being bombarded with reviews of the Maybelline Lash Sensational, I couldn't help but pick it up straight away. It does exactly what I desire, curls and lengthens. Oh, and no clumps. Winner. You can pick it up here.

Now I won't go into too much detail in regards to these brushes as I've just done a post about them which you can check out here to read my opinions, but Spectrum Collections is officially my new favourite eye make-up brush brand. I haven't yet tried the face brushes, (besides one which I love), so I can't really speak for those, but these brushes are incredible, from quality, right to presentation. You can purchase them here.

A new obsession of mine, highlighters! I bought these in Superdrug recently, as I loved the colours. I hadn't heard anything about them, but from my previous experience with Makeup Revolution products, I had high hopes! I was immediately drawn to the lilac-y colour in particular because let's be honest, how often do you see a lilac highlighter? As it's my favourite colour as well, I knew I had to have it. I picked up the creamy white shade too for my collection, and they're my new favourites. The lilac shade looks beautiful when wearing pinks and purples with your make-up, and the white is an all rounder. Obviously the lilac doesn't come off outright lilac on your face, but it has beautiful pinky shimmers running through it. You can pick these up here.

My final favourite of the month, the GOSH 'to play with in Vegas' palette. Another 'spur of the moment' purchase, but one I certainly do not regret. This palette is part of a 'three part' series, and I own those other sets too. I particularly use the middle three shades, and they're super blendable and pigmented. The packaging is super sleek, and easy to chuck in your bag for top-ups, especially with that huge mirror! You can purchase this here.

I hope you've enjoyed my first monthly favourites, and that I haven't rambled on for too long! I really recommend these products, and they're all super affordable. Perfect!

What have you been loving this month? Can you recommend me any new products to try in March?

Spectrum Collections 8 Piece Eye Blending Set

Happy March everybody! Yep, I'm gonna say it. How quickly is this year going by?! Scary.
I'm ashamed to say I left it over a week (?!) since my last post, (thanks work), but I finally have some free time so I decided to pop up my review of the Spectrum Collections '8 Piece Eye Blending Set'.

These babies arrived just around a week ago, so I've had the pleasure of testing them out throughly as I've been using them every day. I also got the Large Fan Brush, but I decided to focus this post solely on the eye brushes, as I'd like to get some more face brushes and do an additional post on those! I'd already heard a lot about Spectrums brushes, so I jumped in head first and picked up the entire eye brush set. The price point is incredible. I paid around £24 for 5 eye brushes from Real Techniques, so to get 8 in this set for £29.99 is amazing. I actually rate the quality of these brushes higher than I do any others I've used before, including the highly raved about Bold Metals brushes.

I was going to list my favourites out of the set, but I realised they're all individually useful for my eye make-up! In large sets of brushes, you normally find you end up with very similar brushes, and that you didn't necessarily need them all, but this set is packed with unique brushes, tailored for each and every part of your eye make-up routine.

As this set is names the 'blending set', it's only right for me to talk about that! There's a mixture of dense and some.. not so dense brushes (????), and you'll find the softer of the set is ideal for blending, leaving no harsh lines, and doing exactly what you've guided it to do. The dense brushes are best for packing on the colour, and are amazing for creating vibrant eye looks which I love!

Finally, the packaging. Not a lot to say about this as.. LOOK! It's pink! Such a dream for any girls make-up collection. These babies do the talking for themselves. I mean, who doesn't want brushes with blue and purple bristles?!

I 100% recommend these brushes, I can't wait to pick up some face brushes to experiment with next!

Has anyone else tried the Spectrum Collections brushes? Will you be picking some up yourself? What are your favourite make-up brushes?
